what I like about you June 29
delicate links to the wider network,
climbing up a building, up the water-pipes;
the horizon is in decay
grafitti and discourse is in sway.
why don’t you swing down from your pedastal
and clamour,
just like me
for more attention?
see that?
that is the spiral of time
we are already running back towards the past,
those trees which stand uncut by the road
are all that remain
but they are remnants, relics, significant.
what I like about you
is the ease with which you can turn up anywhere,
unexpected as a surprise, as a phone call,
as an earthquake, as a crash
in the value of fake stock at wall-street…
what I like is how you sing a song, slowly,
in a low voice,
forcing me to try and get tuned in to your rhythm
to your range, your frequency.
